Art inspired by meditations on nature and mankind

Please do take a moment to soak up some truly magical and inspirational art by Chris Ballew and Kate Endle- all inspired by meditations on nature and mankind. Ahhh sooo fantaaaaastical! Good for the soul of both artist and art-soaker-inner.

So... What's floating across your mind today? Is it weird? Is it frantic? Is it blobby, bouncy, chompy, friendly? Give those thoughts a smile and a wave and maybe, just maybe, put them down on paper. Without judgement and with a light heart, put them down on paper.

ART has DESTROYED so many

Connecting with other humans is one of the main pillars of Art Will Save You’s mission. Through spreading the message, ART WILL SAVE YOU, we’ve had lots of interesting conversations.

Some people make jokes - Who’s Art? Some people share a story without saying anything at all by giving a knowing nod or smile.

Some have expressed another viewpoint: Art as a destroyer of lives. The story goes that the compulsion to create drove the creator to drink, to abuse, and ultimately to die.

We’ve been digesting this last one for some time - as it’s important to do when someone shares a story that has deeply affected them.

How can we help new artists not fall victim to this story?

We think Elizabeth Gilbert may have the answer - or at least part of it - and it lies in the use of the word “genius.” Instead of the rare person "being" a genius, all of us "have" a genius.

Take a look and leave your thoughts and stories in the comment section - or email us if you want to keep it private!I

Elizabeth Gilbert muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses -- and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person "being" a genius, all of us "have" a genius. It's a funny, personal and surprisingly moving talk.
Make Art to Help

We love comments and responses to “Art Will Save You.” They make us think, talk, and make stuff and that’s kinda the whole point! The latest that caught our eye was

Generally yes, but right now, I’d lean on voting...

We couldn’t agree more about voting, but also believe Art will get a h-e-double-hockey-sticks o people out to the polls this year. Time to get to work making stuff! Specifically, get-your-butts-out-and-vote-art. Easy to make art. Fun art. Maybe work on your body positivity art;)

If you’re looking for a way to help society out, how about a VOTE belfie?? Send us yours via email and we will post it anonymously. Post it to a social media profile with the #artwillsaveyou hashtag and we’ll repost from there. Our only ask is that it be non-partisan. Have fun!

Not into butt art? Any VOTE art will do! Use the #artwillsaveyou so we can find and repost it.

Let’s help ART get some peops to the polls!

Playful Watercolor

Watercolors are often feared and misunderstood 💀. Why not embrace that fear and turn it into curiosity and excitement?

Grab some (quality does not matter) watercolors, make some blobs and stripes (you don’t even need a paint brush, you can pour too), stand back and just watch (with glee for best results) the colors play with each other.

Oooooooh aaaaaahhhhhh. Throw some drips and drops around.... now you’re playn and smiln!!!!! No stressn.

Coffee Break Drawing - Go!

Will you be partaking in a coffee break of some sort today? Why not pull up a pen (pencil, highlighter, etch a sketch… whatever is nearby) and a paper (napkin, receipt, post it ...) next to it and focus your mind on a quick sketch of your tasty beverage? Shut off that darn ego and just make some lines yo.

Maybe draw it before and after you drink it if you can grab a bit extra time.

Your mind will reward you for this active tune-out with bursts of sharpness and creativity throughout the rest of the day

Adult Humans: Make Art with Kid Humans

Go! Make art with Kids! Observe and take notes as they become the teachers of art and life.

Some kids have zero inhibitions when they create. They just go for it with reckless abandon. It is advisable to follow their lead.

Some make statements such as, “this sucks” or “this doesn’t even look like...” Does this sound familiar? Perhaps you find yourself saying something similar when you sit down to create. Take note of how ridiculous statements like these sound and work past them together 🙃

Art is a practice. Art is fun. And, frankly, who cares if it doesn’t look exactly like something that exists physically in this world? Even better if it doesn’t.

Kids teach adults about art and life.
